The spread is kind about the future and unconvinced about the past.

The Six of Cups is the card of memory and of the past being handed to you like a bouquet; reversed, it says the looking back has become the problem rather than the comfort. The Eight of Swords underneath is a figure bound among swords that do not actually block the way — a restriction believed rather than real, which is what a story about «only this person» usually is.
