What a Rune Reading Gives You

  • An honest cast — Runes are drawn at random by the server from all 24 — never chosen to say what you hope for.
  • Each rune in its place — A rune in the position of what helps means something different from the same rune in the position of what blocks.
  • The cast as one story — Not three separate definitions, but how the runes talk to each other.
  • Reversed runes where they exist — Nine of the twenty-four are symmetrical and have no reversed form at all — we never invent one.
  • Questions afterwards — Ask the AI about any rune in your cast and get an answer in the context of your spread.

How to Cast the Runes

  1. Choose what your question is about
  2. Write the question, or leave it empty for a general reading.
  3. The runes are drawn and laid out in their positions.
  4. Read the cast as a whole, then rune by rune.

How Runes Differ from Tarot

Runes are older, plainer and far harsher than tarot, and a reading of them sounds different for a reason. A tarot card is a painted scene you can walk into; a rune is a single cut mark that means one hard thing — cattle, ice, hail, need, a road. That is why rune readings are short and direct, and why the tradition uses three runes rather than ten: what happened, where things stand, where they are heading. There is one more practical difference. Any tarot card can fall reversed, but nine runes of the Elder Futhark are symmetrical — Gebo, Hagalaz, Isa, Jera, Eihwaz, Sowilo, Ingwaz, Dagaz and Othala look the same either way up, and a reading that speaks of a reversed Isa is inventing something that does not exist. We draw the position only for the runes that have one.

Rune Reading FAQ

Is the rune reading free?

Yes. New users get starter energy points, which is enough for your first readings without any payment or registration.

Why do I get the same runes for the same question?

On purpose. If every re-ask reshuffled the bag, you would cast until the runes agreed with you. Today the cast holds; tomorrow it is new.

What does a reversed rune mean?

The same force blocked, turned inward or misapplied — not a bad omen. And nine runes have no reversed form at all, because they look identical either way up.

Do I have to write a question?

No. Without a question you get a general reading on the topic you chose, and for the rune of the day a question is not needed at all.
