Exercise 1: Read and complete

This exercise requires completing the past tense forms of regular verbs. Let's fill in each one:

1. skip → skipped (given)
2. laugh → laughed
3. pass → passed
4. stop → stopped
5. try → tried
6. want → wanted
7. climb → climbed
8. cry → cried

Rule reminder:
- For most verbs, we add -ed
- For verbs ending in 'y', change 'y' to 'i' and add -ed
- For short verbs ending in consonant + vowel + consonant, double the final consonant and add -ed

Exercise 2: Read and write

This exercise requires putting verbs in parentheses into the past tense form. Let's complete each sentence:

1. We visited (visit) our grandmother last Sunday. (given)
2. I talked (talk) to my friend last night.
3. The children played (play) a game two hours ago.
4. I phoned (phone) Mark yesterday.

Note: All these verbs are regular past tense forms, following the basic rule of adding -ed to the base form of the verb.
