Four Pillars of Destiny by Date of Birth — Free Chart with Interpretation
Free BaZi calculator online. Get your four pillars of destiny, your day master and your five-element balance from your date and time of birth, fully explained. No registration.
What the BaZi Calculator Gives You
- All four pillars — year, month, day and hour — each with its heavenly stem and earthly branch, named in your own language.
- Your day master — the element that stands for you in this tradition, and what its polarity is like as a temperament.
- Five-element balance — how much wood, fire, earth, metal and water your chart holds, and which element is absent.
- Ten-year luck pillars — the current period and the two that follow, read as moods rather than schedules of events.
- Exact calculation — pillars are computed from the solar terms of the Chinese calendar, not estimated — the chart will match other calculators.
How to Get Your BaZi Chart
- Enter your date of birth and your gender
- Add the time of birth if you know it — it sets the fourth pillar
- Get your four pillars, day master and element balance
- Ask follow-up questions about any part of the chart
How the Four Pillars Are Calculated
A BaZi chart is not a horoscope drawn by eye — it is a calendar calculation, and that is why it can be checked. The year pillar changes at Li Chun, the start of spring around 4 February, not at the lunar New Year, and the month pillar changes at the solar terms rather than on the first of the month, which is why someone born in late January belongs to the previous year's animal. The day pillar comes from an unbroken sixty-day cycle, and the hour pillar from the two-hour period of birth combined with the day's stem. We calculate all of it from the astronomical moments of the solar terms, so a birth a few hours either side of a boundary lands in the right pillar. Two things we do not do: we do not apply a true solar time correction for the longitude of the birthplace, and the day pillar here changes at midnight while the hour stem already follows the next day from 23:00 — the convention most modern calculators use. What the chart means is interpretation, and that part is entertainment: a lens for thinking about yourself, not a statement of fact about your life.
BaZi FAQ
Is the BaZi calculator free?
Yes. New users get starter energy points, which is enough for your first charts without any payment or registration.
What if I don't know my time of birth?
Leave it empty and you get an honest three-pillar chart — year, month and day. Nothing is invented to fill the gap. The hour pillar can be added later if you find your birth time.
Why is my animal different from the Chinese zodiac year?
Because BaZi starts the year at Li Chun, around 4 February, not at the lunar New Year. If you were born in January or early February, your BaZi year animal is the previous one.
What does a missing element mean?
Not a defect and nothing to fix. An absent element is read as a quality you grow into over time or draw from the people around you — and no chart needs a talisman to be corrected.
Do the luck pillars predict events?
No. A ten-year pillar describes the mood of a period — what it tends to ask of you — not what will happen or when. Any reading that puts dates on events is selling you something.
