Why an SVG Has No Size of Its Own
An SVG is not a picture in the usual sense — it is a set of instructions for drawing one: this line here, that curve there, filled with this colour. Nothing in it is measured in pixels, which is why a logo in SVG stays razor-sharp on a phone, on a billboard and on a printed poster alike. The consequence is that converting it to PNG is not really a conversion but a rendering, and rendering needs a decision: at what size? That is why the size control on this page matters more than anywhere else in the toolkit. If the file carries its own dimensions they are used as the default, and if those turn out to be tiny — icon sets often declare 16 or 24 pixels — the long side is scaled up to about a thousand, because a 24-pixel PNG is not something anyone can use. Ask for exactly what you need and you get exactly that, drawn cleanly rather than blown up. Two honest limitations of doing this in a browser: fonts referenced by name but not embedded will be substituted, and pictures linked from other sites will not be fetched — both because the file is never sent anywhere and is rendered strictly with what it contains.

Can I go the other way, from PNG to SVG?
Not here. Turning a photo into a vector is tracing rather than converting — it redraws the picture as shapes, and the result depends heavily on the image. It is a separate tool, not a setting.
