Convert Audio to MIDI Online — WAV, M4A and Voice to MIDI
Free MP3 to MIDI converter online: turn an MP3, WAV or M4A into a .mid file with notes for every detected instrument. Upload a track, download the MIDI.
What the MP3 to MIDI Converter Does
- Notes from real audio — AI detects the pitch, start, length and velocity of every note it hears in the recording
- A track per instrument — melody, bass, keys and drums land on separate MIDI tracks inside one file
- Standard .mid file — opens in any DAW, sequencer or notation app — nothing proprietary, nothing to install
- Any audio in — MP3, WAV, M4A, OGG and FLAC up to 8 minutes, or a track from your Homiwork music
- Runs in the browser — audio to MIDI conversion happens online — no desktop software, no plugin, no signup
How to Convert Audio to MIDI Online
- Upload your audio file — MP3, WAV, M4A, OGG or FLAC, up to 8 minutes long.
- Press “Convert to MIDI” — AI transcription usually takes a minute or two.
- Download the .mid file from your archive and drop it into your DAW or sequencer.
What You Can Do with the MIDI File
- Re-voice the melody — swap the original sound for any synth, piano or sample library and keep the performance
- Borrow a chord progression — lift the harmony of a track and build your own arrangement on top of it
- Edit what was frozen — quantize the timing, transpose the key, redraw or delete single notes
- Learn a part by sight — see the notes of a solo, a bassline or a piano part instead of guessing them by ear
- Line by line — vocals to MIDI, guitar to MIDI or drums to MIDI — each detected part gets its own track
How AI Audio to MIDI Transcription Works
Converting audio to MIDI is not a format swap like turning a WAV into an MP3. An audio file stores a sound wave; a MIDI file stores instructions — which note, when it starts, how long it lasts, how hard it was played. To bridge the two, the neural network listens to the mix, follows every pitch it can make out and writes it back as note events with timing and velocity, grouping them into a track per detected instrument. Clean, well-separated material transcribes best: a solo piano, a sung or hummed melody, a simple bassline, an acoustic guitar. Dense mixes, distorted guitars, heavy reverb and busy drum patterns are much harder for any transcription model, so treat the result as a very good sketch you can polish in a few minutes rather than a note-perfect copy of the record. Tracks up to 8 minutes are supported, and the finished .mid is saved to your archive next to the source audio, ready to download as often as you need.
Frequently Asked Questions
Is the MP3 to MIDI converter free?
Yes. New users get starter energy points — one audio to MIDI conversion costs 16 points, one of the cheapest tools here.
Do I get sheet music or tabs?
No. The result is a standard .mid file, not a printable score, a PDF or a guitar tab. If you need notation, open the MIDI file in a notation program — it will lay the notes out on a staff for you.
How accurate is the transcription?
Clear melodic parts convert very well. Polyphony, drums and heavily processed mixes are the hard cases — expect a workable sketch there that you tidy up in your DAW.
How long can the audio be?
Up to 8 minutes per file. For a longer recording, trim it first and convert the pieces one by one.
Which files can I upload, and what opens the result?
MP3, WAV, M4A, OGG and FLAC, plus any track from your Homiwork music. The .mid file opens in any DAW, sequencer or notation app — there is nothing to install to convert it.
