Lưu ý khi chuyển đổi:

• Động từ tường thuật (reporting verbs): Các động từ như "asked", "wondered", "wanted to know" được giữ nguyên hoặc thay thế bằng các động từ tường thuật tương đương.
• Trật tự từ: Trong câu hỏi gián tiếp, trật tự từ trở thành mệnh đề, tức là Chủ ngữ + Động từ, không còn đảo ngữ như câu hỏi trực tiếp.
• Lùi thì: Thì của động từ trong mệnh đề được lùi về một thì (ví dụ: hiện tại đơn lùi về quá khứ đơn, quá khứ đơn lùi về quá khứ hoàn thành, hiện tại tiếp diễn lùi về quá khứ tiếp diễn, sẽ lùi về would...).
• Đại từ và trạng từ chỉ thời gian/nơi chốn: Cần được điều chỉnh cho phù hợp với ngữ cảnh của lời nói gián tiếp (ví dụ: "you" thành "he/she/I/they", "this" thành "that", "here" thành "there", "today" thành "that day"...).

Lưu ý quan trọng khi chuyển đổi câu hỏi Yes/No:

• Giới từ "if" hoặc "whether": Khi chuyển đổi câu hỏi Yes/No, chúng ta sử dụng "if" hoặc "whether" để nối mệnh đề tường thuật. "If" thường được dùng phổ biến hơn.
• Các quy tắc khác: Các quy tắc về động từ tường thuật, lùi thì, thay đổi đại từ và trạng từ chỉ thời gian/nơi chốn cũng được áp dụng tương tự như với câu hỏi Wh.
