The Day of Arafah (9th of Dhul Hijjah) is considered the most important day of Hajj and one of the holiest days in Islam. On this day, pilgrims gather on the plain of Arafat near Mecca for standing (wuquf) — the essential pillar of Hajj. Prophet Muhammad described it as the day when Allah frees the most people from the Hellfire. Fasting on Arafah Day is recommended for non-pilgrims, expiating sins of the previous and coming year. The day precedes Eid al-Adha, making it a time of reflection, supplication, and anticipation of the festive celebration.
